X API adds free credits for new pay-per-use accounts

What changed

New pay-per-use developer accounts can earn a one-time $20 credit for saving their first eligible card, and a one-time match of their first successful auto-recharge, capped at $50. Credits are applied automatically, spent before purchased credits, and expire three months after they’re granted.

Why it matters for creators

It costs less to test a small bot or a personal analytics script against the official API. Watch the 3-month expiry.
