API repricing: posts with links now cost $0.20 each

What changed

Effective 20 April 2026, X cut “Owned Reads” (your own posts, bookmarks, followers and similar) to $0.001 per resource. Writes went up: POST /2/tweets now costs $0.015, and a Post containing a URL costs $0.20 (summoned replies stay at $0.01). Following, liking and quote-posting via the API were removed from all self-serve tiers. X announced the change on 16 April.

Why it matters for creators

Tools that auto-post links pay 20× more per post, so expect link limits or higher plan prices. Personal analytics on your own data got cheaper.
